Theme
With Fort Worth, Texas, the “City of Cowboys and Culture”, as our home base for this year’s Employer Relations Summit – the conference committee leaned into the Wild West surroundings when selecting this year’s theme. Steering Relationships and Making Lasting Ties, both internal and external relationship building and maintenance, are at the core of our work in Employer Relations and Recruiting. The Employer Relations Summit programming will highlight best practices, future directions, and strategies that will take your team’s ability to Steer Relationship and Make Lasting Ties to the next level.

Call for Proposals (Deadline: March 15th)
The program committee invites you to submit a proposal for the 2020 Employer Relations Summit! Our mission is to craft a program that addresses current critical topics pertinent to the needs of career services professionals specializing in Employer Relations, and employer campus recruiters specializing in University Recruiting.
Sessions may be submitted in the form of breakout sessions or networking roundtables. For more details on session formats and topics to be considered, please review the official Call for Programs page.

Scholarship Opportunity
SoACE is offering three scholarships to career services professional and employer members. Two scholarships will provide a maximum of $2000 to be used for a professional development program, event, resources, or certification toward a related activity of your choice. One scholarship will provide a maximum of $1000 to be used for the SoACE Employer Relations Summit. 2020 scholarship applications will open Tuesday, January 14, 2020. Applications must be received via email by Friday, February 28, 2020. The scholarships will be awarded in May 2020 and must be used by April 1, 2021.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Gene Lunger is the Executive Vice President of Retail Operations (Ashley HomeStores) for the global manufacturer, Ashley Furniture Industries. Ashley is the world’s largest manufacturer of furniture and the #1 home furnishings retailer in North America.

Gene’s responsibilities encompass Licensed Store Operations, Business Development, Licensee Marketing and Retail Education. As a 30+ year home furnishings retailer, Gene’s approach to leadership has been influenced heavily by a lifetime of adventure in the outdoors, stretching and growing his personal comfort zone climbing mountains across the United States. The lessons learned at altitude give him a unique perspective on life, business growth, survival and success in a wildly evolving retail environment. Gene resides in Ft Lauderdale, Florida with his wife Canicia.

SITE VISIT

On Friday morning (June 21), we look forward to visiting USAA, a financial services company who recently expanded their Tampa campus. Transportation will be provided.

Call for Proposals (Deadline: March 15)

The Professional Development Committee and the Employer Relations Knowledge Group invite you to submit a proposal for the 2019 Employer Relations Summit! Our mission is to craft a program that addresses topics pertinent to the needs of career services professionals specializing in employer relations from the career services AND employer perspective.

 

Session Formats

Sessions for the summit can be in one of two formats:

Breakout sessions: These one-hour sessions should offer an in-depth exploration of the chosen topic. The purpose of the one-hour session length is to allow time for participants to actively participate through group work, development of plans, or other relevant tangible takeaways. Breakout sessions will take place Thursday, June 20.

Networking roundtables: These mini-networking sessions take place during a 90-minute block on Wednesday, June 19. Roundtable sessions let participants dip quickly into multiple topics in an open environment for idea sharing, benchmarking and guided discussion. Roundtable hosts/moderators should be prepared to facilitate discussion and have talking points already established, but not make a formal presentation. Hosts should also be prepared to collect contact information and compile notes to send out to attendees after the conference.
