SoACE Kudos: February Edition

SoACE Kudos- Your recognition, made betterEvery other month, SoACE members have the opportunity to submit their anonymous Kudos to colleagues and organizations that have gone above and beyond in the office, as part of a professional association, or in other ways that make life better for others.

UNCW Career Center Team, UNCW Career Center

A Big Thank You to this amazing team for making our Spring Career & Internship Fair a success! We weathered through the bad weather, and had a great day and successful event! Nothing but positive feedback and kudos from our students and employer partners! This day could not happen without all of you! Thank you!

Toria Carter, Whitney Denney, Maggie O’Brien, The University of Georgia Career Center

Kudos to our new Assistant Directors of Diversity Programs, Operations and Strategy, and Career Exploration in the University of Georgia’s Career Center. The three of you will do amazing things in your new roles, and I am looking forward to working with all of you in continuing to engage our students in new and innovative ways! I’m so proud of all three of you and congratulations again!

Renard Miles, University of Tennessee- Martin

Renard is always a phone call, text or email away! He is eager to take off his suit coat jacket (and bow tie) and throws on a polo to put in the work to get the task completed. We need more career service professionals like you!

Nelly C. Leon, Florida International University

Nelly is an amazing colleague who coordinated a group program proposal for Florida ACE. This took a lot of emails and patience… you are greatly appreciated, Nelly!

V’Rhaniku Haynes, University of Central Florida

V’Rhaniku not only cares about the development of her students, but she also cares about the development of her colleagues. I can truly count on V’Rhaniku no matter the day or hour. She serves as a mentor and advocate to numerous career services professionals, and without her encouraging me to get involved, I wouldn’t be as involved in SoACE as I am today.

Cherrelle Lawrence, UNC Chapel Hill, Kenan-Flagler

Cherrelle is a fantastic manager who truly cares about my development and success. She is always there to help with something that I need even when her own schedule is overflowing with different projects and deadlines. She is improving D&I at Kenan-Flagler through her actions and has already created many more opportunities for diverse students than were available before she got here. Many students will have a different experience at UNC and potentially a different career path because of her efforts!

Darby Rich, Jacksonville University Career Resource Center

Darby just started with us last semester and has been instrumental in the Center’s success. In her first professional assignment after graduate school, she hit the ground running as Assistant Director for Student Engagement. She oversaw a nearly 100% increase in the number of student interactions. And she did it all with style and enthusiasm. She’s been an awesome addition to our team.

Trish Nicholson, University of Arkansas Career Development Center

A million kudos to Trish Nicholson for her willingness to do anything and everything to keep our center running smoothly. Her title might say she’s the office manager, but she is really the glue that holds the team together and we are lucky to have her.

Alex Vermillion, Texas State University

Alex approaches every day, task, and obstacle with a positive mindset and calm demeanor. She is always looking for ways to help and take on additional responsibility. She’s taken on many leadership roles over the last few months and continues to wow with each effort. Beyond her being dependent and someone you can rely on, she always brings some fun and happiness to each and every mission. I couldn’t ask for a better colleague.

Laura Kalb, Trinity University

Kudos to Laura Kalb who is leaving Trinity and SoACE for a new adventure at ASU. She has had a profound impact on Trinity University, SoACE, and especially the Tech KG. Congratulations and best wishes from both your Trinity & SoACE family!

Laura Kalb, Trinity University

Thank you for your wonderful KG leadership over the years. Congratulations on your new position at Arizona State University! You will be missed throughout the SoACE community.

Career Outcomes Team, University of Georgia

Kudos to the UGA Career Center for collecting a record number of Class of 2019 career outcomes surveys ever! The team comprised of 12 staff members and 4 student workers was able to collect, process, and publish reports based on 8,289 responses collected for Class of 2019 graduates. The survey collected count represents 88% of Class of 2019 population. As compared to the latest results published by NACE and presented in October 2019, the UGA Career Outcomes’ knowledge rate was 24% higher than the national average. Kudos to all, participating in this ambitious project!
